VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE
86% of all workplace violence occurred between co-workers.
| In 1999 every incident of workplace violence involved a 'threat' that at least one other person knew something about. Why then have there been so many incidences? We believe that many violent incidences could have been prevented if the company had a well structured threat policy and action plan. A 1998 SHRM study showed that of the 70% of companies that did not have violence policy, 44% had an incident of violence. However, of the 30% of companies that did have a policy, less than 10% had an incident. Why not let us help you develop a well-structured threat/violence policy that your employees will actively follow. |

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, INC. created a Protocol called 'Process Management' in response to the fact that, in 1999, 87% of incidents of workplace violence involved co-worker conflict that had escalated. The process was designed to provide a step-by-step procedure for more creative win/win outcomes of co-worker disputes. The protocol helps individuals and teams set boundaries, develop dialog and improve communications for resolving differences. It is also a tool for managers to use in intervention so as to be a part of the solution rather than part of the problem. It helps managers avoid triangulation and getting caught in the middle of disputes at the same time. Let us help you and your organization find the opportunities in the day-to-day business problems you face.
