Human Development Company Policies

Our Service Delivery Philosophy

In today's environment, businesses and institutions are faced with the challenge of recruiting, training and retaining qualified employees while providing competitive employee benefit plans.  This challenge, combined with the realization that employees are affected by elements outside of the workplace, such as family matters, emotional issues, financial concerns, marital problems, drug and alcohol abuse, and the care of their dependents, raises important issues for employers.  Finding programs that help employees manage their professional and personal lives is a complex and challenging problem.

Since 1978, Human Development Company has provided employee assistance programs matched to each client organization's unique culture.  Because every business entity is unique, we develop customized service packages.  All services provided are linked together by a common goal of helping the organization reduce absenteeism, control health benefit costs, retain skilled employees, and maintain and enhance employee productivity.

HDC partners with a client's human resource department, benefits, personnel, and management to uncover areas where cost saving and higher productivity can be accomplished, by working within the following parameters:

  • Offer employees timely intervention and access to appropriate services.
  • Fulfill our commitment to cost containment by providing the most appropriate and high quality services.  We provide core EAP services, including assessment and referral and short-term problem resolution, thereby remaining true to the original charter of EAP.
  • Operate as an external and independent EAP, maintaining case records and appropriate insurance while ensuring client confidentiality, all focused on protecting our client organizations.
  • Adhere to the ethics and standards for Employee Assistance Programs services established by the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA), Occupational Programs Consultants Association (OPCA), the National Council on Alcoholism (NCA), the U.S. Government's National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), and the Employee Assistance Society of North America (EASNA).
